When you move so much on one bike it becomes your personal set of wheels and it can be such a chore to have to switch to something new. Starting to fear that a new bike would suck all of the fun out of cycling, Lisa rolled out a 53cm Jake, for me to try something with a little less junk in the trunk. What a difference! It was so nice to be on a bike with a bit more aggressive geometry. The integrated shifters made all 30 gears a pleasure and I was stopping with ease with the disc brakes doing all the work. The +$300 price difference from the Jake to the Sutra cannot be explained by myself or any seller of Kona products, I think we could add fenders and racks to the Jake and still save money plus with a lifetime warranty on Kona frames, who needs something indestructible?
I hope we can test ride the Konas with trailers and panniers to give us a better idea of their pulling power but we are both 90% sold on the Kona 2013 Jake. Exciting to have one more thing almost out of the way. Know somewhere to get a smoking hot deal on two jakes? Let us know! xo H
