A few days ago we were stopped at a fork in the road - literally, deciding whether to turn onto hwy 90 or 190 just outside of Slidell, Louisiana when a man in a huge RV was kind enough to stop and ask us if we wanted some help. We were trying to decide if we should bike into New Orleans or (because we still had no host there), if we should turn North and try to bypass the city. Bill was kind enough to not just provide directions and useful advice but he also offered us a very comfortable place to stay the night at his and his wife, Sharron's beautiful home on bayou liberty. Complete with a delicious Cajun meal prepared by many hands. We will upload photos soon of all of the beautiful things we did and saw while there.
Between Bill, Sharron and their fabulous friends we were able to make up an itinerary of people to stay with almost clear through Louisiana. We have been enjoying ourselves too much and haven't had time to blog, life is more fun.
For now we are on St.Charles St in beautiful and musical New Orleans. Sharing a house with perfect strangers who we have grown attached to, as well as their chicken Birdy, dogs Izzy and Libby (I can't make this up!) and kitty. Today we will depart again on our journey after a restful three days spent in the mardi gras city. David and I can't believe we're almost in Mexico! It seems we just left yesterday.
We are well and enjoying warm, dry and sunny weather in southern Louisiana, thinking often of our friends and family all over the world and so happy to be living the life which we love. Xo H
