Our campsite was littered with saucer sized hoof prints from wild hogs (wald hawgs is the proper annunciation in Louisiana). With these jumbo bacon bearers come many hunters with the Louisiana weapon of choice - automatic.
As we and no doubt, Milo were soothed by the lapping sounds of the Mississippi and the crinkle crackle of our fire, from the woods came a pop pop pop pop 17 or so rounds of a powerful weapon. Milo has still not recovered from his crippling fear of fireworks and bang bang boom sounds. He decided that alone in our tent was no place to be during an assault of bullets and ripped a milo sized doggy door in the front of our home.
Johnson Outdoors USA went so far above and beyond to help us with our issue (that was not covered under warranty). They sent us a whole new camp-set of the finest quality and perfectly suited to our needs. David and I were almost brought to tears by their generosity. Especially because our old sleeping bags and mats were of a significantly lesser quality. We sleep like babies on our Eureka! sleep systems and dream sweet dreams knowing that incredible companies such as Johnson Outdoors exist.
An email to Sweet Pete's taught me that I have a 2 year warranty with Bontrager but how to claim my warranty two countries later?
In walks Jesus (I can't make this stuff up). Jesus is the Trek Customer Service rep for Mexico. Jesus has helped me more than he has to. Instead of making up some excuse about non transferable warranty Jesus found a solution that was convenient for me! Trek Mexico doesn't even carry racks but Jesus was able to find one that fits my bike and mail it to a dealer in Xalapa where I will be passing through. In keeping with their high level of service, Trek has offered me a rack that is even better than the one I purchased. Way to go Jesus! You and Trek/Bontrager have exceeded my expectations.
On a particularly windy day travelling through South Western Texas, I noticed something on the side of the road. It was a streamlight haz-lo led headlamp in 4 pieces. It had quite obviously been driven over and I was unable to find all of the pieces. After allowing the parts to dry, I made a quick repair to the battery springs and pieced it back together using tie rips so it remains adjustable. I put some electrical tape over the sides were the pieces are missing so it remains water resistance.
Much to my surprise it turned on!
I have now been using this amazing head lamp with the same batteries I found in it on the side of the road more then 6 weeks ago! The quality of this streamlight product so far exceeds that of any headlamp, flashlight or lamp I have ever used. This was driven over, laid in the elements for an unknown duration and was perhaps run over by an industrial lawn mower. Wow! Great job Streamlight.
I contacted this fabulous manufacturer of durable headlamps to tell them how great their products are and much to my surprise they are sending me a new headlamp! David is so excited for my hand-me-down! Even after a thorough beating it is luminating.
